Caring for your Hydrangea

Straight from our growers' notes: how to unbox these stems, how to keep them, and what they look good next to.

These flowers come with little water wraps. Remove them, give them a fresh cut, and put them in cold water. Should they wilt prematurely, you can let the blooms submerge in a bath of warm water (that’s right, head first) for 30 minutes. This often revives them. Return the stems to fresh, clean water after.

While beautiful and long-lasting when handled carefully, this is not the ideal stem for a large installation in heat. Hydrangeas need constant water and a cooler environment or else they will wilt like a deflated balloon.
